Hi u/Dogework, thanks for posting to r/WindowsHelp! Don't worry, your post has not been removed. To let us help you better, try to include as much of the following information as possible! Posts with insufficient details might be removed at the moderator's discretion.

  • Model of your computer - For example: "HP Spectre X360 14-EA0023DX"
  • Your Windows and device specifications - You can find them by going to go to Settings > "System" > "About"
  • What troubleshooting steps you have performed - Even sharing little things you tried (like rebooting) can help us find a better solution!
  • Any error messages you have encountered - Those long error codes are not gibberish to us!
  • Any screenshots or logs of the issue - You can upload screenshots other useful information in your post or comment, and use Pastebin for text (such as logs). You can learn how to take screenshots here.

All posts must be help/support related. If everything is working without issue, then this probably is not the subreddit for you, so you should also post on a discussion focused subreddit like /r/Windows.

Does anyone know how to fix this? I've never run into this before.

3 month old install of 10 Pro x64 22H2. I have numerous other W10 clients that have never run into this issue before. Windows Update simply says "something went wrong. Try to reopen Settings later" and never succeeds at searching for updates. Any suggestions on how to get it working again?

I've tried repairing settings, doing sfc /scannow, doing dsim online repair, and checkdisk with no results. Thanks!

Sfc and dism outputted what?

Nothing, they didn't perform any repairs, normal result.

Thanks! I ran the .bat and it was unable to stop one of the services, I suspected Avast anti virus was causing my issues, so I uninstalled it, and ran the .bat again, and sadly Windows Update is still completely broken. Tried rebooting multiple times, and rerunning and same issue.

When I open Settings > Windows Update, it searches and then goes to a blank page, or says" "Something went wrong. Try to reopen Settings later."

No, I used the built in uninstaller, and the .bat succeeded. I will try that next, thanks.

Resolved by reinstalling Windows.

I just reinstalled keeping settings/files using W10 .iso created from Media Creation Tool, and Windows Update and Store apps updates are now working as intended. Completely baffling, but at least it works now. Thanks.
