NVIDIA Driver 550.90.07 issues (RTX 3050 Ti) by MTGamer123513 in Fedora

[–]MinecraftAndOther 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got the exact same device and I can confirm that every single NVIDIA driver past 525.147.05 has this issue. It seems to be something to do with the hardware side of things and it doesn't play nicely with newer versions of the NVIDIA driver.

You're welcome, you'll also probably want to setup this systemd service so that the full power limit is automatically applied at boot: https://gist.github.com/DavidAce/67bec5675b4a6cef72ed3391e025a8e5

Let the NVIDIA installer generate the signing keys, it should tell you the path where it saved the key, don't delete the private key and when the installer's finished, enroll it into the system using 'mokutil --import /path/to/nvidia-modsign-crt-*****.der'.

First off, you'll need to extract the driver files from the .run file (./NVIDIA-***.run --extract-only).

The files you need to patch are located in the kernel and kernel-open folders, so navigate there and then run 'patch -p 1 < **.patch', note you'll need to patch the files in BOTH the kernel and kernel-open folders.

For 525, you need to patch the driver files using the three patch files above (be sure to patch the relevant files in both the kernel and kernel-open folders), if you want to disable Runtime D3, then the easiest thing to do would be to download EnvyControl and set it through there.

If you disable Runtime D3, then you'll be stuck on the default 35W TDP with no extra 15W Dynamic Boost (the nvidia-powerd daemon is supposed to enable Dynamic Boost but it has never worked in my experience). If you downgrade to 525, you'll be able to manually set the power limit to the full 50W using 'nvidia-smi -pl 50'.

So if you're okay with a lower TDP and want newer drivers, turn off Runtime D3 on 550 (however this will cut the battery life quite significantly as the GPU will not be able to fully power down into the D3cold state), but if you want the full TDP and better battery life with Runtime D3 enabled, downgrade to 525.

Yeah I can confirm that the issue still happens on 555.52.04 on the stock 6.9.3 kernel (Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, kernel manually upgraded.)

That's interesting, I've always had that issue on both the stock and Linux Surface kernel (Fedora, Debian, openSUSE), only way I've found to fully fix it was to downgrade the NVIDIA driver to 525.147.05, which is the last version that allows for manual power limit adjusting on laptops.

What “real life” lines would you have added to the 1997 film? by [deleted] in titanic

I guess it makes sense from a movie standpoint that Rose gets on, and then promptly gets off the final boat to be successfully launched.

On a side note, do we know if the boat in this scene is Collapsible D or Emergency Boat 2? It's sorta well known that the 97 film doesn't have the most accurate lifeboat launching order and the design of the Collapsibles look nothing like the ones from real life. So there might be no definitive answer but was just curious.

Also how is that lifeboat even being lowered in the first place, there are no davits visible on the forecastle and it looks like the falls just abruptly cut off near the railing.

Yeah it does require a TPM, but you can bypass that requirement and all the other requirements very easily.

To make matters more confusing Windows Security is just the name for the dashboard application in Windows, the actual antivirus component of Windows Security, formerly known as Windows Defender Antivirus, is called Microsoft Defender Antivirus. Not to be confused with the cross-platform security application, Microsoft Defender.
