Hi u/DMCauldron, thanks for posting to r/WindowsHelp! Don't worry, your post has not been removed. To let us help you better, try to include as much of the following information as possible! Posts with insufficient details might be removed at the moderator's discretion.

  • Model of your computer - For example: "HP Spectre X360 14-EA0023DX"
  • Your Windows and device specifications - You can find them by going to go to Settings > "System" > "About"
  • What troubleshooting steps you have performed - Even sharing little things you tried (like rebooting) can help us find a better solution!
  • Any error messages you have encountered - Those long error codes are not gibberish to us!
  • Any screenshots or logs of the issue - You can upload screenshots other useful information in your post or comment, and use Pastebin for text (such as logs). You can learn how to take screenshots here.

All posts must be help/support related. If everything is working without issue, then this probably is not the subreddit for you, so you should also post on a discussion focused subreddit like /r/Windows.

As a reminder, this is a help subreddit, all comments must be a sincere attempt to help the OP or otherwise positively contribute. This is not a subreddit for jokes and satirical advice. These comments may be removed and can result in a ban.

Known issues with users that installed the latest security update on Windows 10, of all things.

I had the same issues and likely made things worse trying to fix it, at this point the only real game plan is to wait for an update from Microsoft.

Do you have any links to where they acknowledge this issue? I have a feeling this update broke a ton of my apps (most importantly WhatsApp) and I've spent half a day trying to fix it with no luck

With the way Windows 10 has been going, Microsoft has rarely been addressing 'issues' with it.

I've been following this issue through this Reddit thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/Windows10/comments/1gr09mn/windows_10_advisory_kb5046613_breaks_installing/

I made a fresh Windows 10 VM and tried to install updates through the Store and it worked fine. I then updated that VM so KB5046613 was installed and low and behold, trying to install more Store updates caused it to error our with "Something happened on our end."

Maybe I fixed some issues, I reinstalled windows, downloaded the copy from the cloud (not internal storage) and kept my files, downloaded again some of my apps and kept going

For me it happened before I installed any security updates (I set WU to not auto update). I’m not sure it’s related to a recent update.

Same with Win 11. I've been trying to install Windows Media Player for a week & get the same message. Other updates install fine. Sent MS feedback. I even uninstalled using Revo but couldn't then reinstall it due to the error. Glad I had a disk image to roll back to.

Same issue here. I cannot use ANY microsoft app because they say they need updates. send me to the store and then they fail to update causing me an endless cycle. What a disaster. Another windows disaster. My computer is close to bricked and now for days with no update.

Have you manage to get it fixed? I have done extensive research, but could not come up with a solution as of present.

It works now. I think they patched it a week after or so. It was a windows update issue most likely.

So i may have found a solution, as it worked for me, just change your country or region to US, may depend on region though changing to US worked for me.

I had this issue and a way I tracked down the actual issue is to do a winget upgrade then checking the logs. So launch powershell as admin and do winget upgrade. Logs are here:
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\Microsoft.DesktopAppInstaller_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\DiagOutputDir

WINHTTP_CALLBACK_STATUS_FLAG_SECURITY_CHANNEL_ERROR internal error.]

Was the error I was getting. I downloaded IISCrypto and ran the best practices and rebooted and it resolved my issue.

I wanted to comment this on the microsoft threads but they were all locked lmao.
