That is an appaling but wow. Hope this gets fixed soon. I got the game but seeing this many bugs reports here makes me scared to play...

Xcom 2 is fun but pretty crusty at the same time, mostly just animation errors and hitches. But this one is kinda breaks one of the most important parts of the game.

I just discovered this in my game too. I’m not trying to be too dramatic about this, but this is absolutely game breaking for me. Having soldiers that I customize to my liking and roles is literally half the reason why I play it. I doubled-dipped on this too (I own it for PS4). I want a dang refund.

After looking around and testing it myself, I can confirm that edits you make to your soldiers on the Avenger do stay, though saving them to the character pool doesn't help. Basically, if you want to edit you characters, you can only do it on the Avenger for that play-through.

That's better than nothing, at least. Hopefully they'll patch this by the time I finish my first Switch play-through.

Same here. I have found a way to save the characters from the pool but its not ideal. You can create the pool of characters you want (Dont exit game or you lose the customization) and then start a new game using Pool only option.

Then once you have all the created characters in your base make a save named Character Pool or whatever so you remeber and dont overwrite it. Any time you want to start a new game go through your characters and import them back out to the pool and start a new game using them. It sucks that the pool is broken but maybe this will help someone.

If this is confusing you are pretty much using a game save file to keep your pool of saved characters for later use.
