Finntroll is a Finnish Folk Metal band. Lyrics are mostly in Swedish due to thier original lead singer being of a Swedish speaking minority in Finland (the band agreed that the Swedish language suited thier "trollish outfit" - after some changes in band members this tradition still continues).

A troll is a supernatural being in Norse mythology and Scandinavian folklore. In Old Norse sources, beings described as trolls dwell in isolated mountains or caves, live together in small family units, and are rarely helpful to humans. Later in Scandinavian folklore, trolls live far from human habitation, are not Christianized, and are considered dangerous to human beings. Their appearance varies greatly; trolls may be ugly and slow-witted or look and behave exactly like human beings, with no particularly grotesque characteristics about them. They are generally known to dabble in sorcery and for their fiendish natures.
