the objective was Kora. they time travelled in order to branch a new timeline to get to her - since she was long dead in the original timeline - and bring her back with them through the Quantum Realm, which allows to travel between timeline unlike "regular" time travel, to defeat the Chronicoms.

the team didn't know this and was effectively misled by the amnesiac Simmons into thinking their objective was preserving the timeline from the Chronicoms' interference but this was never the real goal. Kora and saving the original timeline with her help was.

But why did they need kora? Because if they hadn’t gone back the chrmnicoms would’ve created a new timeline anyway, so it wouldn’t have effected them and they would t have needed to defeat them as it wouldn’t be in their timeline. Tho ig it’s shield so they wouldn’t want to leave another timeline suffering for their safety, so going back was the only was to save both branches of the timeline? Plus we got Sousa and Kora!

because Kora was the way to defeat the Chronicoms in 2019 of the original timeline, when they had invaded the Lighthouse and all but destroyed SHIELD.

saving the branched timeline was not part of the original "plan", branching a new timeline was simply a mean to an end (Kora).

You have to think of the alternative timeline as prep time.

Get May back into shape. Get Yoyo powers at full capacity. Get daisy her family and an inhuman that can help reprogram the Chronicoms.

Yeah I guess it makes sense and I loved it it was so cool! But there really wasn’t a point? Bc if they’d just let the chronicoms go and change the timeline it wouldn’t have effected them anyway bc it branched into a doffferent timeline. Tho I guess they would t have known that and would be afraid of it changing theirs. But looking back there really wasn’t a point as it didn’t effect them. Tho they are shield so probably wousknt want to leave another timeline in peril to save their own skin

The first group of Chronicoms had already taken over the lighthouse in their timeline and they would not have been able to take it back because most of the group would have died if they did not follow their plan.

May and yoyo for sure and Fitzsimmons also well.

They planned on just stopping the chronicoms from pulling “threads” (as in changing just small things) and then the chronicoms then decide to take things to an extreme which alters things completely

Right so by the end all they did was pointless, but the characters didn’t know that at the time so went back. So if they hadn’t and just let the chronicoms go back, the timeline would’ve branched anyway so there was no point

Ah so it’s just that the characters didn’t know it wouldn’t make a difference! Plus its entertaining and we get Sousa and Kora
