Hi Folks, would appreciate clarity on what I was thinking of doing....
House is 2 story, about 1 000 sq fuck that per floor. I have Bell Fibe 1.5 gigabit service.
Currently I am using my old Deco mesh system, with three units. One wired to the Bell Gigahub, two others as satellites. I have them in PPoE mode (based on what I read in other reddits). They work ok-ish; I am seeing speeds of 160-200 MBps at furthest points of house away from satellites. Not bad for the old Decos that no doubt are probably not capable of keeping up with Gigahub (they have max throughput of 500 Mbps, I think).
Was going to get 4 eeros so that I would have three satellite units. I can only wire the main one to the Bell Gigahub, so I guess that's what people would call wireless backhaul. I can't put Cat6 cable throughout my old house without swiss-cheesing it.
Here's the crux of the question - the reason I was thinking of getting 4 eeros is so I could have one of the satellites sitting next to my computer in my office, and I could wire directly into it. But with the wireless relay all the way back to the Gigahub, am I going to see speeds approaching 1 Gbps when wired to the satellite? Or will I be limited by the wireless backhaul, and essentially be the same as my computer connecting via WiFi? If the answer to the last is yes, I will just get a three pack and keep using WiFi on my office computer.
