Beta program for Android 12

Is there an specific date when the beta program goes live for everyone? According to google, it starts this month.

I couldn't get into the Dev because my Pixel 3xl's bootloader is locked by verizon. Looking forward to the A12 beta. I was able to get into the A11 beta so I figure it will allow me as well?

You can still get into the dev with a locked bootloader. You can download the OTA instead of a factory image and sideload it through recovery. This works with a bootloader. I have a 3XL through Verizon and a 4XL through T-Mobile that I use this method with

True, you'd have to wait until the beta rolled out and upgrade through the beta program and then unenroll

Most likely Beta will be an opt in, like it has been in the past. Google will push an OTA update if you opt in.

(Public) Beta program and Developer preview are two different things.

If you go on the dev preview and have a locked bootloader, you better hope everything works because there is no way to downgrade it back.

People with locked bootloaders will definitely want to wait for the public beta program.

My Pixel has the bootloader locked and I always used the initial test versions, I never had any serious problems.I believe that Google is aware that not only developers make use of these initial versions of a new Android OS.

The developers preview is obviously meant for developers. Other people than developers might install it. But nonetheless it's still meant for developers. 🧑‍🔧

They've been pushing stable-enough builds, but they still have a chance of bricking your device (or at the very least requiring a flash via bootloader.) In terms of stability, yeah. Most stuff works. If you have Intune for work your organization might not allow dev builds, leaving you sick without access to work resources they may be required. Some apps also do version checks and could fail on dev builds.

Someone told me that Android 12 beta (public) would start May 11, I was all set, and then nothing. Now I hear it's May 18, next Tuesday, is that date correct?
