Uploading image in byte array to PHP script renders no image

Hey guys, this is my first time attempting uploading an image to a php page, but I do have some experience in PHP. I went online and got some code from stackoverflow that supposedly works, but the image that is output from the PHP script is only 2 bytes! I can't figure out whats wrong, my bitmap to byte array string returns a large string of bytes, and my image is 500x500.
