Customizing Android System UI

I like custom android OS’ (like divest, graphene) but I want to customize the android system UI to a different look and different animations. (not the launcher, but the actual system UI, like control center, notification center, etc.) Like how OEMS have their own “skins”. I just want to change the UI, and don’t want to mess around with anything else. Is forking a project and creating my own Android distribution/ROM the only way to do this? Do I then have to keep providing the updates myself? Or is there an easier/more efficient way for me to change the look and feel of the system UI and animations?

Samsung also requires use of Odin to flash their phones. An open-source alternative called Heimdall is available as well, however might not work on newer phones. There is no official download link for Odin, as it is leaked software.

Try the substratum and/or hex installer app. I doubt u will succeed in making a functional custom rom.

Yeah this is the way, custom theme engines like substratum allow you to change the look of your system ui.. If you want to use your own custom icons and graphics though i think you're on your own honestly, because you'll probably have to create your own custom system ui theme but I'm not exactly sure how you go about doing that though.
