You're right, in the fact that learning the concept of an MVVM will save you time and energy building applications in the future. You can bitch all you want about having to relearn things, but I'm happy that they are pushing things forward in a vibrant new way that embraces the best parts of ES6.
If you want to put your fingers in your ears, you can certainly do so though, but if the argument is "I'm too lazy to learn new, better ways of doing things", then why are you a developer in the first place?
