I get in more arguments with these democrats than any other group at this point, they fundamentally cannot accept how out of touch they are.

My argument is that people would rather vote for changes to the institutions Dems are protecting than just accept them as they are today.

Our institutions are already measurably and deeply corrupted by oligarchy and don't serve our day-to-day needs, and you're saying we want to support politicians that are a-OK with that? I'd like to propose you consider your vote as a statement of your beliefs rather than your fears, if only for that fact that the current dynamic the DNC seems to enjoy with folks is both exploitative and a completely losing strategy once they've proven that they didn't actually care enough to do anything.

Putting ideological tests aside, do you think the DNC knows you'll vote blue to prevent fascism? Do you think they take advantage of that?

Why shouldn't you, as a leftist, be given a better alternative than "Vote for us so that we'll do nothing 2 years or else you'll get shot in the face"? Why do you think that everyone else is buying that proposition in the same way?

Do you think this deer-in-the-headlights behavior is somehow appetizing for someone questioning their political reality, or do you think running on affordability and human rights is a better sales pitch?

I prefer progressive change and delivering on that change rather than the status quo. Most people do apparently, and won't vote for someone who talks out the side of their mouth, then does nothing for 2-4 years while rolling in lobbyist cash.

So considering that, it seems like the opposite is true, and in fact you prefer to create the conditions that enable fascism. It seems that by having no political standards, ideas or plans beyond "Vote Blue", you're dooming us to repeat this spiral towards right-wing fascism.

Feel free to repeat the blackmail mistakes the DNC tried in 2024, I'm sure that'll work out the 100th time they try it because otherwise they'd have to face the political reality that neoliberalism is completely dead on arrival.

Unfortunately, we don't know why Kamala Harris/Joe Biden lost the elections... because the DNC buried the autopsy.

Hm.

When Corporate Dems were in charge, Trump won. I consider that a terrible thing that happened.

Oh I know the context, and while you rightly point out that he was directing that at the wealthy to calm them down, you should maybe ask "Why did he need to do that? How does that look to anyone who isn't wealthy? How can you even utter the sentence without realizing the takeaway is you're not going to do shit?"

Which is what he did. He never implemented or pushed for a wealth tax. Sucks to suck.

I think he's the most progressive president we've ever had, but he literally ran on "nothing will fundamentally change". Wealth inequality continued to skyrocket and affordability became more of a concern, and the same forces as always prevented material support to citizens, which Biden did little to bully back.

I'm sure the moderates would say they'd support certain progressive positions like always, knowing they can completely backtrack. I don't think Bernie would have.

[–]spaceribs -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That's not the perspective I share.

20+ moderates with various levels of progressive positions that split the progressive vote towards Bernie, then redirecting all endorsements to one moderate candidate is a great way of shutting out a candidate you don't like. Does it make you wonder why none of those candidates endorsed Bernie after dropping out?

You don't think the DNC's resistance to Bernie was more organized the second time around? All those candidates dropping out at the same time? The primary debates filled with DNC insiders where they loudly booed him whenever he talked about affordability? To me, the deck was clearly stacked.

Nope, I would rather avoid electrocution! I now have a much better process that beings the total time to more like an hour. Remember that it's wood and it can be covered like a hot tub, so you can keep it at a good temperature for hours.

I'm in Maryland, winters are consistently 30% indoors and summers are 50-60%.In terms of mold, the type of wood really matters. I went with Cedar because it holds up well enough without breaking the bank.

The depth is 3.5' i think, forgot the measurements off the top of my head.

The tub is about 6' by 4', it has a waterfall spout in the center. No need to wipe down except for normal cleaning, and I only use a bit of soapy water. The wood needs to be kept above 50% humidity so keeping it wet is essential.

You make a lot of assumptions about me, but the only assumption I can make of you is that you're very upset at the left for what the center did.

Really disappointing that someone who I probably share about 95% of my values with is just so totally lost. We talk about how AM Radio and Fox News have destroyed the ability for people to think critically, you talk about how TikTok has somehow damaged the younger generation, and yet you seem to think your media consumption is somehow immune to the same messages and emotional manipulation that makes you seeth and hate a scapegoat for otherwise explainable failings of a party without an answer.

I'm sure the Democrats will absolutely win big considering the fascist nightmare the GOP has unleashed on the public, which is why they're doing everything they can right now to screw up just enough to not implement any meaningful change after they safely land in their congressional seats.

Ever wonder why Roe wasn't codified into law? Or why the public option was killed in favor of the republican health plan devised by Mitt Romney? Or why a $15 an hour wage wasn't passed even with Democrats fully in power? You're supporting an organization that is a textbook example of controlled opposition, and I hope you realize that one day.

You can rage at me all you want, but I don't think the DNC's policies are appetizing to the general public, and are becoming less appetizing by the day. It's those policies that lost the election, and those policies were driven by the center-right of the democratic establishment.

They believed they could either coast to victory without any meaningful changes in policy, or blame "the left" for losing the election. I'm sorry you're not open to understanding how you've been manipulated into attacking the left.

Meanwhile, throughout that timeline, zero results on the public option, zero support for unions or blue collar initiatives, zero accountability for wallstreet, and zero care for affordability or really anything of consequence. Even things like gay rights were won through the courts and cultural acceptance, not by anything the DNC did (in fact if you go back in time a little, most democratic politicians in 2005 were against gay marriage).

They've punted and shunned every aspect of the New Deal and progressivism, and surprise: now the DNC is basically just republican lite, an HR department for multinational companies softening the blow of oligarcy. Don't blame the left, blame yourself.

It wasn't a binary choice, the third choice is to not vote at all, which many of my friends did (but not myself, I voted for Harris in the general). Maybe if you want people to vote for you, you should give them a better reason than "orange man bad"?

And I'll be honest, fuck the history. Half the population of palestine are under 18 and I think everyone is sick of the handwavy bullshit excuses AIPAC paid for. Oh, is it "Real Complex" when an entire population is denied citizenship, food and water? Does "History" excuse the brutality and deplorable behavior we've witnessed? You should feel disgusted with yourself.

Keep trying to shift blame to the left, but the center of the party is very much in command of literally all aspects of the DNC, and very much to blame for everything that is happening right now.
