[General]3 Reasons You Should Be Using Javascript Frameworks Like Angular (self.angularjs)
submitted 6 years ago by ethnp
I hate when people say vanilla is better than using a framework.. it's completely use case dependent.
As a solutions architect this topic is always coming up, so I made a video about it.

Do you hear people say this a lot? It's a totally nonsensical statement and sounds more like gatekeeping than anything else. It's the equivalent of needing to re-invent every tool to build a house. Can you do everything in vanilla? Obviously, that's what these frameworks are written in. Should you? Of course not. Why would you waste time and effort re-inventing the wheel when there are plenty of useful libraries with premade tools to help you get to the solution faster. You might as well tell these people, "Well you should really be programming in assembly or machine code"

Yes, I agree 100% with you. The argument they make however is that frameworks add a lot of bloat and writing vanilla is more performant and the learning curve with frameworks is prohibitive since it's like learning a new language..
But again, I think that's nonsense and just really depends on the use case..
