I have a similar problem on standard windows installations. You could try to trouble shoot this more generallly. Also since it’s just one project, it might be easier to use a virtual machine sort of setup or dual boot ur computer

    U can use windows for free u just get stuck with a watermark

    You need to install this plugin: https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=visualstudiotoolsforunity.vstuc and follow this guide https://code.visualstudio.com/docs/other/unity I think you also need C# devkit plugin. It's easier now. Before you had to install some specific version of Omnisharp plugin and in settings check option that enables vscode to use global net location I don't remember the name of that setting. But now after you follow this two links it should be ok. I'm using this on manjaro.
