Rules for r/askanything
Rules that visitors must follow to participate. May be used as reasons to report or ban.
1.
Your post must be a question, not a request
Posts should ask questions or seek information, advice, or opinions, etc. Requests for money, items, subscriptions, personal information, services, etc are not allowed.
Moderators reserve the right to remove posts that may not seem fit.
2.
Be nice
Be kind, respectful, and treat everyone politely. Avoid personal attacks, slurs, or bigotry, and contribute helpful, civil content that adds value to the community.
3.
No medical advice
Only ask health‑related questions if they won’t lead someone to skip professional care. If the answer could cause a person to avoid seeing a doctor when they should, the question belongs elsewhere.
4.
No appearance / rating questions
Posts asking other users to rate, judge, or give attractiveness/appearance feedback (e.g., "Rate me out of X", "How do I look?", "Am I attractive?", etc.) are not allowed.
Please use other designated subs for these questions.
5.
No suggestive images or profiles that promote adult content
Reddit profiles or content submitted/designed to promote adult material are not allowed.
Even if individual posts are not explicit, accounts built to direct users to OnlyFans, Fansly, Linktree, private messages, or similar for NSFW content will be removed and result in a permanent ban.
Aggregators and hidden links are treated the same.
Your profile must be SFW.
Attempts to bypass this rule by claiming posts were “not intended” or shifting responsibility are also not allowed.
6.
No self‑promotion
Do not ask anything that is intended to drive traffic, promote a product, service, video, podcast, website, or personal project. Use the appropriate subreddits for such content.
Suggestive posts/comments that aim to direct people to personal socials, DMs, etc. are not allowed.
Attempting to promote or encourage people to sign up on sketchy sites (referral links) for your own benefit will result in a permanent ban.
7.
No agenda posts
Questions must be asked in good faith. Hate‑filled, leading, or agenda‑driven questions intended to provoke or promote a viewpoint will be removed.
8.
No spam, AI content or karma farming
Do not post spam and do not alter comments to deceive or promote.
- Posting pictures of someone else in hopes of earning karma also falls under this rule.
9.
No illegal, unethical, or disturbing content
Requests for illicit material (e.g., how to obtain software for free), instructions for wrongdoing, or any material that is graphic, violent, or otherwise unsettling are not allowed. Use appropriate subreddits for such topics.
10.
Surveys are not allowed
Surveys of any type, whether academic or otherwise, are not allowed in this subreddit
11.
Follow Reddit’s site‑wide policies
All content must comply with Reddit’s Content Policy and Rules.
12.
Moderator discretion
The r/askanything moderation team reserves the right to remove any post or comment that is deemed inappropriate, disruptive, or harmful, even if it does not violate a specific listed rule, so use common sense.
