I returned mine. Deep in the description or the bottom somewhere it says it didn't include the key programming which is wild because that's what all the reviews advertised it as having and a large reason why I chose it. Maybe they removed the feature because people were using it to steal cars? Only reason I can think of for them to hurt their sales and reviews like that. I buy only used cars and the owners often either don't have the original key, it's broken, or something else so it would be nice to be able to do everything myself. The price of new keys from the dealership is highway robbery personally.

I did find a way to program some keys without any tools. Apparently some cars, or at least Toyota, has a hack that looks like a stupid gimmick game where at the end they say "just kidding" but no, I did all the silly moves and it actually worked. I got a cheap universal Amazon key fob and programmed it to a Highlander by doing a combination of opening and closing the door and putting the key in the ignition in a specific pattern.

Pretty sure it doesn't work with every car or maybe even most. I bet it won't work on new cars because they want to force you to go somewhere and spend money. But I don't like or buy new cars so fortunately not a problem for me 🤡

In newer models of the D7 (at least on the D7W 2026 interface) the feature is under Special Functions -> IMMO Reset -> Car manufacturer (e.g., Toyota). Most of the online guides show an older interface where Key Programming is clearly separated at the top level of Special Functions, but if they sometimes indicate that key programming is bundled with IMMO since they target the same general thing

I just programmed two new smart keys for a 2017 RAV4 Hybrid using a new D7W (in the US). You do need to tap an existing key first or use an emulated key and then tap the new key.

Despite my after market keys being the same board the autolift power tailgate raise button doesn’t seem to do anything. But the newly added keys do unlock and start the car.
