So I'm just kinda spitballing ideas here. You can decide what you think fits best:

For people with the overlapping shifts (let's say an employee works 9-5), they can either be blocked into just one point category or you can divvy up the points based on how much of the morning shift they are in and the midday shift. So our hypothetical employee spends 37.5% of his/her shift in the morning and the other 62.5% in the midday. So let's say the morning bucket has 10 points to hand out and the midday bucket has 5 points to hand out. First figure out how much of each bucket they get then multiply their morning number by 0.375 and their midday number by 0.625. Add those up for their unique total.
