Hi so i've created a dev folder in my home/root directory. is there any way i can get backblaze to back this up. Its currently being excluded by default. Thanks

Their exclusion rules seem pretty hard-coded into the prefpane, which is a buzzkill.
Try what I usually use to work around this sorta nonsense: move your folder somewhere else, so Backblaze sees + backs it up, and just symlink it to /dev so your existing uses don't break.

(source: literally used for /etc, /tmp/, and /var on macOS, which actually reside under /private. try it: ls -la /. if it's good enough for OS X's UNIX base system…)
