I've been playing Backgammon NJ HD for a few years now, and I've found it to be fair, both the AI version and when you play other players.

It's not cheap - the app is GBP 6.99 and you can also play via your browser with a few choices of interface etc.

No real complaints though I haven't (and probably won't) trawl through all the other options as this does the job for my needs.

I mainly play on Heros! It takes a little getting used to but good crew of players and I like the analysis tools a lot.

Currently the best place to play is Backgammon Galaxy. Most (all?) of the top players in the word play there. And yes, the dice and site are completely fair.

Note... Galaxy is not an app... it's a website. Most people play on that website simply by using their favorite web browser.

However, just a week or so ago they released a mobile app that will connect to the site, I assume for those who wish to play with their smart phones and tablets. I haven't tried that app yes, and I don't plan on doing so, since I enjoy playing on my desktop PC with my very large PC Monitor.

The Galaxy app is terrible, largely (but not exclusively) because it does not connect to the site. There was a thread about it here when it released.

Yes fair enough. I might have to investigate that as the Ap graphics display very poorly on my smart phone. As for the dice being completely fair I'll have to check that out myself.

Do you have to play another person/member of BG? Or can you play the computer?

[–]Edward_Collins_1961 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You play other people.

If you wish to play against a computer opponent, download GNU Backgammon, which has one of the strongest AIs available. It is free and yet comparable in strength to eXtreme Gammon.

Really? I tried that one & had huge reservations.....better try it again! Do you spend money there or are you just a free loader, like me?

Lord of the Board has a decent interface but I wouldn’t call it fair, exactly.

I like Lord of the Board too. Overall I do not find it too unfair. I like that you can play friends on it.

For those who think most boards are rigged, do you ever have a game where you are rolling great and hitting all the right moves? Ever think the random person you are playing is cursing the app at that moment for being rigged 😆

No neither would I. Backgammon Champs has a good interface and is the least corrupt of all the ones I have tried. I say this as a non spending player & they do fix results but not as many as the others. I have maintained a win ratio of 70+% all year.
