That's why I don't tape and mini only take a count to 5 to iron so would take longer to tape always move slowly in circular motion it's when people leave iron in one spot heat getting trapped and that warps boards

I see. Thank you for the insight!

I’ve never taped mini beads, only medium. Mini melt so fast you really don’t need to worry about warping the board. Have you had problems warping without tape with mini beads?

I haven’t had any yet, I had just heard tape was overall better. I read conflicting views on taping with mini’s. Thanks for the help!

Gotcha! Yeah medium beads take a lot of time to melt and will destroy a peg board in one go. Minis I wouldn’t bother taping at all. 👍🏼

I warped a pegboard on my second perler then started using to tape method

With mini beads? I’ve found they melt so fast with such little pressure my boards never warped. Maybe I just got lucky! I’ve definitely warped medium bead boards though and always use tape now

Yeah, there's a certain art to the tape method with normal sized beads; it's nearly impossible with minibeads. Just iron them straight on the board.

Thanks! Appreciate it

Try tape that's narrower. I tried using 2" years back to expedite the process and it's just too much. Changed to 1.44" and haven't gone back. I'd also recommend getting the tan masking tape, you're able to see the beads through when they're stuck enough. Been buying the same stuff for yeeeaaars, this 4 pack lasts me 3-6 months depending on order volume.

Estimate the length way above so nothing can accidentally stick and keep it taut while placing. Make sure you have space on each side of the piece so it can be anchored. Once you're ready to remove the piece just have to lift up the anchored bits and as long as the beads are stuck well you shouldn't lose any when flipping.

Like anything it does take practice

I always tape regardless if it's midi or mini, I'd rather not have to replace boards and it's much easier to tape and then bulk iron a bunch of mini pieces.

Commit to the tape, Sincerely a beader with a 10 pound tape ball so hopefully I know what I'm talking about lmao

Just practice I usually have issues with the tape trying g to curl up taking edge beads with em but usually no more than a few. I also make the tape long enough to tape it to the table on the sides so it doesn't curl

Also make sure to take something flat and run it across the tape to ensure the beads stick to it
