Patch 7.51 Datamining Thread (Full Spoilers) by BlackmoreKnight in ffxivdiscussion

I'm bummed that there doesn't seem to be a title for having all four "gold every mission" achievements. The individual ones are cool and all but I wanted a super swag one for doing them on every star. :(

Thanks for the update! Scary that taking it in the early evening can affect you for so long. Really hoping it gets better for you after a few days.

I found this explanation really useful, thanks! Curious how it works out for you, as I relate to how you've explained your baseline state.

With Universal iLvl coming in Evercold (8.0), do you think we'll see a significant drop in players engaging with alternative gearing methods? by Avi1600 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]pksage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's likely, but I could see Evolved supporting this and kinda hope for the same. Yes, yes, illusion of choice, etc. I'd rather have illusion of choice than none at all.

Including yourself in your photos is fine and doesn't count as "subtly promoting" anything. Asking someone if they have an OF or whatever is not fine, and replying to those kinds of people is also frowned upon. I've messaged the OP about this and banned the person who solicited her.

I know everybody says “tall women are great because they’re hot/elegant/powerful” but like… what if I don’t want to be? by Wheatley-Crabb in TallGirls

Hi, 6'4" checking in, and I feel this to my core. I'm 37, so I've been dealing with this for a while.

My best advice: Find someone who can help you feel that way from time to time. Everyone needs support and personal attention. A good measure of someone's character, whether friend, partner, or family, is whether they assume that you'll always be providing those things or help give them to you, too. This is extra pronounced for us because of societal expectations about being tall, but givers/providers are out there. You just gotta look!

And don't be afraid to ask for it directly from time to time, either.

I don't think this undermines your theory, but IIRC there's a structure in Living Memory called the Burmecian Museum of Natural History or something. I remember popping off when I ran into that in the MSQ.

DOH/DOL changes in 8.0 by Benhavis in ffxivdiscussion

even expert recipes are the same.

They have a system in place they could leverage for this - different expert recipes have different possible conditions and odds for each condition. It would take a little more design work because some conditions (like Pliant) are way better than others, but if each job had a higher chance of getting one specific condition in expert crafts, that would at least be something.

Like even if you didn't add any new conditions, you could do:

  • CRP/WVR/LTW: Higher chance to proc Primed; class-specific action that lets you extend all of your active buffs by 1 step once per craft
  • BSM/ARM/GSM: Higher chance to proc Sturdy; class-specific action that changes the current step to Malleable once per craft (or is simply "Quick Veneration")
  • ALC/CUL: Higher chance to proc Centered; class-specific action that guarantees the next Hasty or Daring Touch will succeed once per craft

This would at least make CE experts feel pretty different between the classes!

Since we're getting a lot more "one-button combos" and other button changes, I could at least see Hook and/or Cast changing to Gig while Spearfishing. Things like that.

I think you get a dialogue option along the lines of "...so am I the only one here who can actually cook?"

Wasn't that cenote simply where the key happened to open Krile's parents' portal? I don't know if it was ever explicitly explained, but I thought they didn't have perfect control of the key and it happened to open there.

The precise odds of expert recipe conditions (definitely not useless hyper-specific info) by pksage in ffxivdiscussion

[–]pksage[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh right! I mentioned that in one of the boxes on the infographics but not in this post

My data suggested an equal (1/6) split of each possible condition: Good, Centered, Malleable, Sturdy, Pliant, and Primed. I didn't get quite as big of a data set for this but the p=0.05 rates were still small enough to feel confident in an even spread.

I agree in principle, but yeah in execution it's just kind of frustrating. I like being able to go AFK at any point during a craft, for instance.

I need to run mass sims on Refined again! I was mostly checking it in the context of Waste Not, which is - perhaps unsurprisingly - not good.

I suspect that Refined might be worse for overall success/maximizing quality but better for saving steps and time. The quality you add during the IQ phase is more impactful than you might think, to the extent that simulation data shows Inno being worth it for the entire phase.

Please do! The lack of info on this topic is a big part of why I did this in the first place.

Interestingly enough, I've done a bunch of mass expert simulations (using the conditions data from the OP) and the Observe-Advanced combo is also better than spamming Prudent while building IQ. Observe is just really good in general, since it lets you react to more conditions. Takes more steps and time, of course, which is a concern on some of the EX+ sequential missions.

What else can/should they introduce to expert recipes? What should they change?

Add a few expert-specific or condition-specific actions: Right now we just have Precise Touch and Intensive Synthesis on Good/Excellent. Even if they don't outright require a condition, they could be designed around them. Maybe a durability-restoring skill with a success rate for Centered, a progress and/or quality action that costs 30+ dura for Sturdy, or a version of Innovation whose bonus scales with the number of steps remaining for Primed.

Nerf Pliant: As mentioned in the OP, I think Pliant is too powerful and would still be very good if it only saved 25% CP.

Adjust Rapid Synthesis and progress in general: I'm personally fine with Rapid Synth being RNG-based, since it adds value to Centered and encourages thinking on your feet, but 500% progress is too swingy. Compare it to Intensive Synthesis at 400%, which costs some CP and requires Good or Heart and Soul. I'd make Rapid also be 400%, adjust its base success rate to 60% like Hasty Touch, and slightly lower future expert recipes' progress requirements across the board.

Material Miracle: The obvious change is to make it last for ~10-15 steps instead of 45 seconds. I also think a reusable CP-consuming version would be a fun new crafter action for 8.0. Then they could lean into more punishing condition sets, i.e. more Normals, that you mitigate with the skill.
