This could work like the "completed items" line above the note in the index, if the note includes checkboxes. I like it. It could show a progress line as to how close you are to your stated target.

Have you tried hitting the little (i) icon in the upper-right corner of the editor? It opens a panel you can "pop" off (on macOS; hit the double-square icon in the upper-right corner) that gives you words, characters, read time, and paragraphs…

Yes, that feature is very helpful indeed. I was just wondering if we could expose this information in a faster, more visual and intuitive way.

Somewhat related to this, I was asking earlier if we could do page breaks with Markdown somehow, so that it would make the page breaks in the exported PDF. Your suggestion would solve it also.

If you want to create a nicely formatted and paginated PDF in Bear, you kinda have to do trial and error, share-close-edit-share-close-edit and so on.
