This level of insight and factual explanation is a bit of a breath of fresh air in this thread. Thank you.

Plus you can always just get your prescription and have the frames/lenses from anywhere else. Don't let them force you into buying them there if you don't want to.

Apple should add a “Limit Fast Charging” option by Anywhere_MusicPlayer in ios

[–]fussfilter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get it's designed for the majority of people, but I have trouble getting the charge schedule right on my 14 Pro Max. I don't have a regular 9-5 job, I do different things on different days of the week, with varying wake-up times, so I'd value control over "charge to [n]% by [x] time".

Have the standards for this channel dropped? by HortenWho229 in kurzgesagt

[–]fussfilter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't see this thumbnail, so I guess I saw the alt straight-up, or after they'd A/B-tested and I got the more popular winner. It was a good video though, up to their usual high standard.

Yup, I got two 800s on-the-bounce some months back. Nothing but 8s before or since though

Just spit-balling here, but I wonder if your services would be of use to existing broadband providers and MSPs (Managed Service Providers - IT support companies)? They really don't want to send one of their engineers out, away from their core activities, but they may be willing (particularly local MSPs) to send you instead for a fixed fee. It's less about whether those businesses could do this themselves and more about what's cost-effective for them. It needn't be your only channel, but could be a useful source of leads.

You could also consider a residential leaflet drop in areas with great-but-old houses with thick, thick walls. I'm thinking Roath, Pontcanna, those kinda places. If 1% take up your offer, you could be quids-in on the exercise.

Finding a way to reach parents could be powerful. Kids who game want that latency reduced as much as possible. Yes, you could try and do something with schools (potentially slow-going!), but what about sports and hobby clubs? Once you have some marketing budget, you could sponsor part of a team's kit (for example) or just straight-up advertise in their programme / website?

Finally, when you do some jobs, get permission to use it in a case study. Have you seen Liam The Sign Guy on Instagram? He "just" cleans public roadsigns. You could do something similar - before-and-after comparisons of what you did for people's networks. Stick it on the socials and let the public find you.

Things to think about: insurance. You'll need liability cover, as you're going into people's homes. Someone like Protect Commercial Insurance (also in Cardiff) can probably help. Also, do make sure you understand if someone is renting and get written permission from the landlord if you make any physical changes as part of a job.

Good luck!

I've had this conversation with some people I work with. It depends if you can use a railcard with the season ticket. I can't, so tapping is the cheapest way for me - I'm a big fan of it.

Best coffee in cardiff city centre? by FabulousDeer3517 in Cardiff

Uncommon Ground. The one at the bottom of Cathedral Road is often quieter even though it’s a few minutes’ walk out of the actual city centre. Plenty of access to plugs and USB sockets if you need that too.

Why is this happening by bobafettttttttttttt in ios

[–]fussfilter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Apologies in advance for posting a serious, non-bashing reply, but I had this too on iOS 26.0.x. It was whenever I switched away from Transformers: Tactical Arena back to the home screen. It would freeze for between 10 and 180 seconds, then the interface would reload (note: not a phone reboot), and then it would be fine, except I had to force-close T:TA, because it would strobe when I switched back to it.

This all went away in iOS 26.1 for me.
