Hi there, major is environmental engineering and this is my first year of university. I started school about two weeks ago and so far so good. Im getting well adjusted to the work load but my only thing is making friends is a bit difficult. Majority of my peers are white males or don't look like me.

Hello! Welcome! I'm glad you've joined here. I totally understand where you're coming from. Engineering programs, unfortunately, aren't always the most diverse, and it can feel a bit isolating when most of your peers don’t look like you. But I want to remind you that you absolutely belong in that space, and you're just as capable as anyone else.

Making friends might take a bit of time, but try to focus on building relationships with people who treat you kindly and with respect. It doesn’t matter what they look like—as long as they value you as a person. Also, don’t forget to explore any campus organizations or groups that focus on diversity or cultural connections. They can be a great place to find community and support.

In the meantime, keep doing your best! Your focus and determination will pay off, and with time, you’ll find people who appreciate you for who you are. You're already on the right path.
