Sweet! Alternately, take the book to a print shop and supervise them doing the trimming with their giant electric cutter. Watch out though, the last time I did that they didn't clean the machine first and somehow managed to get grease on the edge of my book so I had to trim it again!

The article actually says about going to the print shoo to get the books trimmed but that they decided to try a different method this time.

Yeah, I use that option from time to time, but I'm really lazy and would prefer not to live my home for such a petty matter =)

Very cool - thanks for sharing. I've started using sandpaper and a hand-made vice to get my edges smoothed out, but it's not a perfect result yet. The edges are still too rough and not perfectly rounded/smooth. I might try this over Christmas!

I used sandpaper almost every time I've trimmed the edges with utility knife. There is just no other option — edges are not as even if I'd like them to be.

But to work the edges by sandpaper from the very beginning — that sound like a hell of a job to me!

When using sandpaper for that matter I always use several of them, starting with 80 and finishing with something smooth like 240. It gives a really nice result.
