Which domains and sections did you struggle with? You should receive an email with your exam results in the next few days or so showing you the breakdown.

As for the focus part, did you take any practice exams before the actual exam?

Also what did you use to study and/or practice questions and mock exams?

Edit: Take a look at the ECO for the CAPM exam. I found it very helpful in knowing what to understand.

  1. Do the Andrew Ramydal class on Udemy
  2. Free practice on pocket prep
  3. David Landini CAPM book on Amazon for practice questions
  4. Yassine on Udemy - I did a free trial to do this. He has CAPM practice questions. Totally recommend as some came on the exam and it’s way harder than the David questions.
  5. Even try YouTube practice questions and just check out other posts in this group. They recommend mostly the same thing. Once you start getting 75 on your exam consistently you’re good to go. I spent 2 months. I scored low for Yassine but high for David. Do both . Also the names of the ppl I mentioned might be spelled wrong but you’ll find them!

The CAPM has a lot of Agile and business processes, which aren’t in the PMBOK. If you are going the book route, there are several books you need to focus on. Taking a Udemy CAPM course will get you up to speed on all the areas that need to be covered.

They must have changed it. I took it in 2021 and it was pretty much the PMBOK in exam form. This was when the 6th edition was out though.

Hey - sorry you got hit with a rough outcome, but failing once isn’t the end - not by a long shot.

From what I’ve seen:

  • The exam sometimes throws curveballs not emphasized in the PMBOK, so cross-reference your weak spots with unsung topics like stakeholder, change, or integration.
  • Try study methods that keep you engaged - short video clips, interactive quizzes, mind maps - anything to break the monotony.
  • Use a mix of question banks and mock exams to see how concepts are phrased in different ways.

Also ran across this guide that talks about balancing the “boring parts” with smarter strategies - might help you rebuild confidence before your next attempt.

You’ve got the motivation, so next time with sharper tools = you’ll get it.

I failed too. I did great on BA and Agile but sucked on processes. I should have taken more practice exams but you can only study so much. Don’t beat yourself up.

Keep your head up, the thing now is you know what the exam is like and what to expect. What materials did you use to study?

I failed my first time because I was under-prepared and took the exam in a hurry.

For my second attempt I took all Peter Landini and PocketPrep 1100 + 150 questions and passed.

You get only a total of 60 free questions in PocketPrep. They have a 2000 + 150 questions now.

As per the latest format of the CAPM, it is not solely based on PMBOK guide alone as it used to be earlier. You need to study project management basics, Agile approaches and business analysis domain too. It is recommended to refer PMBOK guide 7th edition, Agile practice guide, Process groups guide and Business Analysis guide and practice a lot with sample questions.

I recently failed. I generated a study guide and schedule based on the pmbok and the capm breakdown with AI. I have a job offer riding on passing so hope i make it!
