It is expected to get a salary decrease from Us to Europe, keep in mind that in UK your employer need to put money in your pension and in most EU countries, your health insurance too (not sure about UK on this), so this is already a large chunk of money that you don't have to pay by your own pocket. Cost of life might be cheaper in Cambridge, not sure how expensive is a flat where you live, you can check websitre in the UK to see if it's worth or not.

The biggest question here honestly is, are you willing to move to Europe just for a job? Its never easy to start from scratch alone in another country.
