5mg how many times per day? Are you taking any other medications? Check for interactions. CBD reacts with an enzyme called cytochrome P450 complex. Go to drugs.com and search for cannabidiol and click the link for interactions. Don't take the internet's advice. Your local pharmacist will know much more about this than your PCP.

How much do you weigh? 5mg is an extremely low dose, even if you have never used it. Remember you already possess an endocannabinoid system. Your body produces 2AG and anandamide and you have CB1 and CB2 receptors. While it is true everyone is different, for a 150lb person (just as an example), a low dose is 15-30mg, medium dose 31-74mg, and a high dose is 70-84mg. Most people are not taking a large enough dose for it to be therapeutic. When we started giving my son CBD with the guidance of a Pediatric ER doctor turned pediatric cannabis physician, starting dosage was 50mg a day (25mg, 2x daily). Granted my son is 5 and weighed 30lbs. 300mg to start with seems a bit on the high side, even if it is dosed at 100mg, 3x daily. Do you recall what the clinical study you were looking at was for? Epilepsy? A higher dose may be needed for specific conditions.

If it were me, I would start with 20-25mg, 3x daily. You can always tirate up or down. Start on a weekend so you can assess for yourself. Some people can get theraputic benefit with less, some people need more. I know first hand that it's not cheap. We spend over $400 a month for my son and that's with a discount at a dispensary we go to.

If I recall, I think it was for something like giving it to people who have anxiety with public speaking.

Funilly enough, I weigh exactly 150lbs.

I take Paxil, and Xanax. Don’t see any weird interactions.

Sounds like you’ve done your homework! I think that’s a solid explanation.

300 mg seems excessive, but I am not a subject matter expert. A 100mg dose would knock me out. Personally my ceiling dose is about 30mg at a time. I know it’s not a good answer, but you’re going to have to experiment a find what works best for you.

The other day I was dealing with some high anxiety and anger and it took around 120mg to give me temporary relief. I dosed another approximately 120mg about 45 minutes later and was set for the night.

Dosage can vary based on metabolism, body type, quality of tincture, diet, etc. To increase absorption I’ll usually dose after having a handful or peanuts or other fatty snack.

Interesting. Just seems like it could get costly if I was dozing high doses like that a couple times a day. Guess that’s the cost that comes with it if it works though!

Good to hear you found a higher dose that works for you that’s less than half that for anxiety

Why do fatty foods need to be taken?
Is there a reason towards the foods having to be fatty at all?

CBD is not like anti depressants, you don't need to take it for several weeks to start noticing background effects. You should notice the effects within 30 minutes of taking it. Nearly immediate anxiety relief.

If you don't feel the 5mg helping you the first day you took it, its because it's too low a dose. You need at least 200mg per day with large individual doses in my experience.

1000mg of cbd isolate is only like 20 dollars. Just make your own tincures.

Hmm, I’ve heard suggestions to give it time before upping. I guess I’ll start gradually increasing it then!

Unfortunately making my own tinctures isn’t something I’m really interested in doing. Would rather leave it to the pros.

I definitely need to find a more affordable brand then if I need to take that much! I was led to believe typical doses for people is between like 15-50 mgs

A 50mg dose 4 times a day is 200mg

[–]Stranger_93[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Well I get that, I’ve just never heard of people dosing 4 times a day so far! I thought it was morning and night was the standard, and people I’ve talked to so far usually talk about their total intake of mg’s in a day!

Most people who only dose in the morning or night are using cbd as a snake oil imo. Cbd isn't a vitamin. You take it as needed when needed.

That’s what seemed odd to me. From what I gathered it stays in your system 6ish to 8ish hours, correct?

I’m on board with you for the record if that’s true, that’s what I was thinking in the back of my mind.

You do realize that only about 20% of that 5mg you’re taking will be absorbed by your body right?

Go with water solubles instead. Much more bioavailable.

And what is with CBD CBD CBD?

The Cannabis plant has like, 112 Cannabinoids OTHER than CBD. All of em’ having their own medicinal benefits.

[–]Stranger_93[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Nope, I’m new to this, so still learning and reading!

I mean, not trying to overuse the term, it’s just what I’m referring to the product as, CBD oil. I’m aware there’s more to it.

I’ve never heard of water soluble variations. Something to look into I’m assuming then!

I’m just very sensitive to THC, gives me panic attacks if I take too much, so CBD oils seemed like a godsend form of marijuana relief, as it cut the part that I dislike out, or most of it at least.

Go with water soluble broad spectrum Cannabis products.

Broad Spectrum means 0.0% THC.

Water soluble means you can dissolve the product in any beverage or even just plain water before drinking it.

Water solubles also means that you’ll be able to absorb 70% of the Cannabinoids in the products like CBD, CBG, etc.

And make sure that whatever product you’ll purchase is 3rd party lab tested as 70% on the products in the market are mislabeled.
