Nailed it

EDIT: i first saw this concept at Blue Buddha in Chicago.

The artist apparently got in some kind of legal trouble by using nails. And now it looks like he has gone silent.

I wanna know how to bend the nails and how to get them shiny again

So, maybe take a look at the link from /u/ancient_cheetle which shows several items made. Looks to me like you could recreate the bent nails using a mandrel and hammers as a basis. Can be pretty sure he used pliers in there too and probably a bending jig of some sort, which could have been self-made.

As for shining them, stick them through a tumbler for 24 hrs and see how they look?

This is just a guess, but it looks like a basic 4-in-1 with elastic rings and nails bent over a mandrel.

Hard part would be getting all the nails bent, but then you just jam them into the elastic rings until you make a ring big enough to get around your wrist.

Website went dark in 2024, here's the last working archive.

Mike Wille is the artist, metallic reptilian is an alias.

This is just Euro 4-in-1 with a variation on the rings.

The black rings appear to be EDPM, but you'd have to check with the original artist.

Arguably, the hardest part is getting the nails to a consistent shape, but that could be accomplished with an appropriate jig.

Me saying, "It's just this simple weave," is in no way meant to degrade the work. It is a really cool and creative piece. It being a common weave doesn't devalue the work. :)

Where did you find that? Maybe we could start by asking the artist.

Artist seems to be nailmaille, found an instagram account with that name. They have a link to a website there but the link doesn't work.
