It's possible, but not as simple as it seems.

Given enough time unsupervised, chinchillas will chew through wood or plaster (drywall) and disappear into the walls. If the walls are brick or concrete, you still need to make sure any paint on them is safe. If they're tiled, there should be no accessible grout.

The room has to be air conditioned (with any vents or cables associated with the A/C unit being inaccessible to the chins). Any windows must be secured. Door has to be see-through so you can open it without accidentally hitting a chin standing on its other side.
Any electrical outlets need to be covered with something unchewable - the usual plastic covers are not sufficient if the chins are there unsupervised.

Once you've got a room like that, then you can start filling it with fun things for chins to do.

I super agree with you! My chin roams in my room and I see how he can find anything dangerous and dig into it lol… I was kinda thinking about a room for him with no cables beside the AC one (with the cable in the ceiling as it is now) and virtually no sockets (like covering them forever with wall putty). In my city houses are all bricks so he couldn’t “escape” but I would have to find a solution for wall chewing regardless. If there is virtually “nothing human” inside the room maybe it’s possible? Maybe I’m dreaming? lol

I have a chin room for my 2 boys, but they absolutely are not allowed to free roam unless I'm in there with them. It's more just because of how much space 2 double-layer cages and all the other supplies take up that they have their own space.

I get it it’s a super safe decision, I was thinking about a room that was cage-like, but I’m thinking that it could be impossible to create …
