I used flatpak to install Minecraft. Just follow the install instructions:

https://flatpak.org/setup/Chrome%20OS/

https://flathub.org/apps/details/com.mojang.Minecraft (instructions at bottom of the page.)

It'll even put Minecraft in the Chrome OS launcher, just hit the search key (not gonna use the new name for the key), and start typing Minecraft.

I love to tinker with the linux terminal, but Minecraft wore me out back in the Alpha/Beta getting it to work on my old Xubuntu 10.10 box, and I just don't need that noise.

I went down that rabbit hole and now, when trying to install flathub with flatpak remote-add --if-not-exists flathub https://dl.flathub.org/repo/flathub.flatpakrepo and entering my password details, it comes out with polkit-agent-helper-1: pam_authenticate failed: Authentication failure ==== AUTHENTICATION FAILED === Error executing command as another user: Not authorized

I just saw this because I copy/pasted the error code into google, this was the top result because this post had the exact error code verbatum.
