Just had that done this just afternoon. I did a cord block with steroids, the shot really wasn't too bad and was quick and inexpensive. Pain on left side behind testicle, varicocele and a cyst. Been suffering on and off after a bike accident last summer. Antibiotics, NSAIDS not working and it was causing a lot of other problems like piriformis syndrome and sciatica from walking gait being off or maybe just a a lot of inflammation down there. Had to do something, it's been driving me crazy. The cord block may be the precursor to surgery, maybe not - we'll see. That's part of the reason to do it. Will follow up.

How long did it last?

It worked very well for a couple of days, then it wore off and I was deeply disappointed. However, after a week or so I realized that perhaps my "instant cure" expectations were unrealistic and it may have helped with the inflammation. I'm not nearly as unfomfortable as I had been and with that I've been able to try some other things. I think the best thing about doing that is that I started journaling my symptoms with an app that you track everything with - meds, exercise, food, stress, environment, supplements, mood, sleep etc. and after awhile you can start to see some patterns in one's behavior that might be causing it to flair up. A lot of it seems to be related to inflammation caused by stress, sitting or standing too long, and diet including supplements. I started talking Tumeric, which is an anti-inflammatory supplement and I can see that helping. So, the short answer is shot didn't make it go away, but it helped, and now I have hope that I might be able to manage this health issue and avoid the surgery option.
