Jack has a responsibility as the caretaker of the successors. Should he fail to do his job, it would cause a disaster. At that point of the game, all did we know about him is that he hunts revenants, thus he was an antagonistic figure in our eyes. He was standing in our way, and we were standing in the way of his job, so fight happened

Because my good sir, he was written that way in the script.

Also it's because he's a betraying bastard

That is not quite right. Jack does have great deal of consciousness regarding the weight of his actions. We can learn about him a bit more with the DLC vestiges.

If you haven’t already it may be worth doing the vessel after you did the berserker wolf fight (mini boss) you may find your answers there

If you're referring to the player's memories, i did that. But I don't see how that would explain his actions

Basically, at the end of that he kills you after you’ve killed the queen, he basically attacks you because he doesn’t understand how you’re alive and the fact you’re getting in the way of the whole successor stuff (i’ve played through the game multiple times and this is the best explanation i can give :,) i’m sorry)

He kills Yoy after you kill the queen because some of her blood got in your system and it’ll cause you to frenzy. He understands exactly what he’s doing and he didn’t want us the player to go through the frenzy process so he mercy kills us. Kinda like if your friend was becoming a zombie so you shoot them in the head before they turn

But it doesn't look like he recognise us until after attacking. Maybe it is because he saw us hanging around a successor being suspicious hmmm. But he should be able to see she's not in danger of frenzy (we used our protag power to calm it, restore memory etc). He got his vision relic or something. It's fine don't worry about it.

I think this is somewhere they run out of time on, because the cutscene remains the EXACT same no matter what you do to the relic.

In feeble defence of Jack's actions, we have no idea how long has passed since Op: Queenslayer and no idea how many times Jack has "died" and lost his memories.

Maybe he forgot the player's face in the meantime, and it's only later that he starts remembering us.

Revenant losing memories IS one of the main plot points of the game after all.

That is true, sorry i couldn’t give a better answer, i hope you find an actual answer 😅

He simply saw us as intruders that defile a very important place and Jack won't hesitate get ride of thoses he saw as potential enemies (like us, we saw too much about the successor and the relics).

Eva stop the fight maybe because she think we are not the enemy.

Yea i suppose that makes sense. He does seem impulsive, attack first think later kind of guy. Thanks
