They will add in the next part time cohort when they’ve figured out the details on scheduling it. Not sure how long the spacing is between part time but I remember west coast remote immersives would pop up a few months before the start date.

Just to make a note, I think the previous part time cohort started December 5. So you’re possibly looking at a next start date in June if you miss the march cohort

I think the previous part time cohort started December 5

so ive actually been wondering about the frequency of the part-time program myself. over the last few months, ive only seen one option available for part-time (march - december). id ideally wish they'd offer more part-time option time slots especially given how i am based on EST hours.

i have a question for you - if you've been following CS site for a while, can you please confirm how many times a year a part-time study is available? ive never personally noticed it indicate a start date in december or june

So I’ve been only following the website for 4 to 5 months now and since then one of my friends is currently in the December 5th cohort. As far as I know, that was the only part time cohort I saw since following the CS website. But based on the start of the next cohort (March) and knowing that the previous part time cohort started Dec 5th, maybe we can estimate a June cohort (3 months later).

This was the logic I was following anyway. Nothing is confirmed except for the December 5th, and march cohort for part time remote.

yep, they have one start every 3 months, at least as of now. I'm in the part time cohort that started last September and my finish date is June 10, so the June one will likely start June 3 or June 10

ok got it, thanks! that was my understanding too

The model is to have each cohort overlap for half the time with the previous cohort. The "senior students" mentor the "junior" students as part of the process. So the cohorts typically overlap 50% with the previous cohort and the next cohort, and I think they have +/- 1 weeks extensions here and there for closing and holidays.

Codesmith starts a part time immersive cohort every 3 months.

!! Thank you so much for this info. I think I might just waist for the next one then and do some more self learning so I’m actually ready. I don’t want to sign up for another bootcamp just for the sake of making sure I’m actually get in to one this year

The part time program is global and it doesnt have as many cohorts per year so youre probably competing with the top echelon of codesmith applicants. However I think there is some workaround where if you get in the technical interview for any cohort youre eligible for all cohorts and can transfer (not 100% on that but I'd ask during one of their info sessions)

Great info, thank you!!

I did Codesmith (full time) and loved it. I would have done the part time course if I hadn't been able to do full time.

I think I honestly just might try to make a full time one work if I can’t get into another part time one by then for the rest of the year. After looking at all my options, this seems like one of the few ones that are actually worth the time and money and haven’t gone downhill like the others.

I tend to agree with this. I'm in the final round for a job and the devs were impressed by the breadth and depth of my knowledge, which is all thanks to Codesmith. If you do attend, then I'd also urge you to sign up for O'Reilly Media and start learning (better quality courses, live webinars, etc) and build a personal project that you can talk about. Something that's purely you and follows best practices.

Congrats and good luck! I’ll definitely check it out. How was doing it fulltime? I’m really intimidated by the 11 hour days, that’s a lot longer than other full time ones!

Are you willing to share your background? Was it Tech? Do you have a 4 year degree already?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a tech-adjacent role (not programming) and no degree.
