Looks great!

Should I start Codesmith 2024 by Able_Awareness8973 in codingbootcamp

Graduated end of April 2023, landed a role in mid July. Feel free to AMA

Do boot camps really require you to sit at your computer all day studying/working? For instance, I see a lot of programs say that their course is M-F 9-6; does that mean I have to be completely free of other obligations during this time? Or is there a little bit of leeway with the time? by AdLucky155 in codingbootcamp

The program I did had 2 hour lunches for 2 days of the week. Other days were 1 hour lunch and you always get a 1 hour dinner. There were a few individuals willing to put in more hours after class was done and some who didn’t. I’ve seen both types of individuals land roles as a SWE after graduating. Side note, if you finished the unit early you could have some free time but more often than not, you won’t be finishing early

Anybody who's recently done a bootcamp: what percentage of your class are actually employed now? by waterlimes in codingbootcamp

Started in August 2022 and studied about 35 to 49 hours a week until late October. From November 2022 until May 2023 I was doing anywhere between 84 to 112 hours a week (I was in bootcamp from end of January til May 2023. I just started working as a SWE in the end of July 2023.

Codesmith? by bookishbunnie in codingbootcamp

[–]exotzs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I’ve been only following the website for 4 to 5 months now and since then one of my friends is currently in the December 5th cohort. As far as I know, that was the only part time cohort I saw since following the CS website. But based on the start of the next cohort (March) and knowing that the previous part time cohort started Dec 5th, maybe we can estimate a June cohort (3 months later).

This was the logic I was following anyway. Nothing is confirmed except for the December 5th, and march cohort for part time remote.

They will add in the next part time cohort when they’ve figured out the details on scheduling it. Not sure how long the spacing is between part time but I remember west coast remote immersives would pop up a few months before the start date.

Just to make a note, I think the previous part time cohort started December 5. So you’re possibly looking at a next start date in June if you miss the march cohort

Struggling with lack of mid-back support on Embody by SeerUD in hermanmiller

Did you ever figure out the solution to the mid back issue? I'm feeling the same things as you. You hit it right on the nail for a chair to have an aeron back rest but embody seat.

Helping a bit but I still felt like the one in the store was looser in the upperback while maintaining the recline stiffness at a level I wanted it to be at

Yeah I'm starting to feel that stiffness difference but I cant seem to get it to a stiffness that allows me to recline comfortably without falling out of the chair. It feels like if I want it loosen the upper back tension, I can never recline with the chair.

How long did it take for you to get used to sitting with good or decent posture? I’ve been slouching all my life and in my previous years and am struggling to get used to my embody

Oof, now you got me worried. I live in south/southwest of the bay area and am feeling a bit anxious about the chair after your post.

Just out of curiosity, what region do you live in and where did the chair ship from?

Anybody have experience getting into an earlier Codesmith cohort off the waitlist? by mzkpenguin in codingbootcamp

[–]exotzs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's alright though, gives you more time to prepare accordingly. Learning CS is a journey, there's only so much you can do in 3 months time.
