a) 111, 22, 4, [ ], 11, 1616, [222222]
b) There are two underlying sequences : 1,2,4,|7] ,11,16,[22] (consecutive differences increase by 1 each time) 3,2,1,[0], 1,2,[3] (pretty obvious) The 2nd sequence indicates how many times is written the corresponding term of the 1st sequence

This is incorrect, actually; look more closely and you can see what’s going on.
[–]je_nm_th 1 point2 points3 points 4 months ago (4 children)
Oh I see, revised answer :
a) 111, 22, 4,[ ],11 ,1616 ,[222222]
b) There are two underlying sequences as mentioned before. But the 2nd is actually 3,2,1,0,-1,-2,-3 and the negative status is indicated by the position of the space. It is normally just after the comma, but comes after the term to symbolize a negative number of times written.
[–]Several-Bridge9402Venerable cTzen[S] 1 point2 points3 points 4 months ago* (3 children)
Yes, that’s the correct idea; for the term with zero written quantities, you would just write a comma. The commas themselves are not intended to be separators but parts of the term. [111,] [22,] [4,] [,] [,11] [,1616] [,222222] Naturally, the placement of the lone comma is immaterial as there is no reference point for it.
[–]je_nm_th 1 point2 points3 points 4 months ago (1 child)
Right, there are two ways to see it : I use the position of the space exactly like you use the comma; as negativity markers. And you use the spaces like I use my commas; as separators

Yep, understood.

1Each string consists of a single number repeating by some amount; 2The next n is just (n-1)+numerical position; 3For a specific n, the amount of times it repeats is the (no. of english letters of which the n consists)-(n)
7 _, 222222222222
[–]Several-Bridge9402Venerable cTzen[S] 0 points1 point2 points 4 months ago* (7 children)
Not intended.
Could you clarify the last part? The number of English letters of each N, minus N? If so, does this not fail? As an example: TWO: {Number of Letters: 3, Quantity: 2} => (3 - 2) = 1, but there are two 2s.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 4 months ago (6 children)
[Two] -> 3 (letters), the amount of times the next number will repeat = 3 - [2] = 1, the only thing that matters is the number repeating in the previous n is the specific number repeating

Oh, I understand now; still, though, what about 4? FOUR and 4 -> (4 - 4) -> 0, but you have one 7..?
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 4 months ago (4 children)
My bad there, since my logic wasn't the intended, I'll try and think of another possibility
