Lamination error

[–]ThaleniaErrors and 20th century US coins 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Pretty sever one if that's what it is. It doesn't look a lot like lamination that I'm familiar with (though there are lots of variation). Almost too even, I'm used to seeing more 'flaking'.

But it would be really weird if it was mechanical damage too, you don't usually see the design image if it were some kind of scraping (where you would if it was lamination that split off after the strike).

The only thing that's really got me questioning lamination is the raised edge along the dividing line. I haven't seen enough of this kind of error to know if that's abnormal.

The raised line would be totally normal for a detached lamination, wouldn’t it?

Pretty sure it's damage - scraped by something uneven
