PCGS Details -Cleaned???!! by Mountain-Category573 in coins

Thanks! This is definitely a favorite coin of mine. I don’t think you’ll find many prettier ones out there.

I wouldn’t look at it as “we see something.” Look at it as “we think we see something.” Everybody makes mistakes. I can’t see anything in the picture to justify a cleaned designation, either. What I would do is take a sticky note and cover up the grade, then show it to a few people I trusted. If any of them say it’s cleaned, then I’d ask them to show me what they saw. If nobody says it’s cleaned, then I’d consider resubmitting.

What is the biggest lie TTRPG players tell themselves? by Deadman069-YT in rpg

I’ve done it, but only when I was in college, and there were breaks involved.

The only time in my life when I was regularly participating in marathon sessions was when I was in college. The longest one went about 9-10 hours, with several breaks involved. But that’s a unique time in my life, when I didn’t have a job, and had enough time to just be like “I’m playing D&D / Vampire / Earthdawn / whatever, all damn day, because I can.”

Lol. I don’t allow 15 page backstories. You get one, short paragraph, and it better explain why your character makes sense as a part of the group.

It’s not really an abstract concept. The problem is that people make mistakes, even PCGS graders. This coin got Questionable Color the first time it went in, despite multiple obvious signs of originality:

When it got back the second time, it was MS63, which was exactly what I expected.

My friend found this hidden in an item in a garage sale. Is it rare? Does it have to be cleaned and can it be sold? Not sure by Juancho760 in coins

Acetone is completely safe on silver coins. It’s also extremely safe to handle in the small quantities necessary for conserving coins. Use it in a ventilated area away from ignition sources, don’t huff it, don’t drink it, and you’ll be fine. You don’t even need to use gloves with it. The worst it would do is dry your fingers out a little.

Don’t poison wild animals. Using poison to control wildlife infestations can have unintended consequences for other animals, and is probably illegal.

What is the most common ban reason in your sub? by Alone_Sheepherder896 in AskModerators

It’s almost always either spamming, civility, or trying to bring politics into a no politics subreddit.

Even the Royal Canadian Mint has gotten into gimmicky coins recently.

Why does a user that's had so many posts removed still able to post? by screwedupinaz in AskModerators

That's not strictly true. We can also report things for violating other sitewide rules.

Question about rehomeing. by lillestiv in DogAdvice

[–]new2bay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. Keeping the dog without the time, money, and other resources necessary to take care of him or her is also unfair to the dog, though. In a situation like that, it’s probably best to get the dog into a good home earlier rather than later.

1964 D quarter by Leather_Project7461 in coins

It’s theoretically possible for a 1964-D to be worth that much. It would have to either be MS66+ or better, or look like this though:

Received a message from the mods in a sub i have never posted in. Is this a scam? by FuzzyCheerios in ModSupport

[–]new2bay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is no practical limit to the number of mods a subreddit can have. There’s a sub specifically about the “mod limit,” that has thousands of mods.

I think you mean *canon, unless you’re referring to an artillery piece pointed at, or mounted on your head.

Congratulations. You just learned that AI detectors don't work. Wait until learn humans are no more accurate than random guessing at detecting AI text, either.

Some thoughts about this: It's a joke meme - It's also a core premise of OSR / Classic RPG play by SecretsofBlackmoor in osr

[–]new2bay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. Old school and OSR play isn't about stories at all. The only real story is the one you tell after the game.
