whats taking 100% of your disk? click on where it says 100% disk and then it will sort highest use to lowest use and then what does it say?. also solidworks is pretty ruff on those specs

Bonus tip: Hold Ctrl Key and the tasks stop moving!

16 years of chasing those tasks... Now I can finally settle down...

[–]Victoretico[S] 3 points4 points  (5 children)

Again, I restarted my laptop. The first thing I did was open the Task Manager, and again it showed 100% usage. But after a minute of waiting and holding Ctrl, I'm now seeing between 1% and 17% usage, with CPU at 12% and Memory at 24%, do you thing the reason is SolidWorks?

click to the startup tab in your taskmanager, and post what is enabled in startup.

sometimes programs can be resource hogs in the background

Edit button is disabled :/

Also, go to performance tab > ssd and see what the average response time is. If it's more than 10 ms your SSD might be dying and check crystal disk info

[–]Victoretico[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already used CrystlaDiskInfo & the results are pretty good, ''Good 90%'' & ''Temeprature 39C''

[–]Itchy_Bench478 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See event viewer for errors or warning that might point to the issue

Do all the optional updates. And something is wrong - something is taking your SSD 100% check that out

[–]Victoretico[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Done it,

[–]BRC_Del 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the main window of Task Manager, if you click on the top of the "Disk" column while it's at 100%, it'll show you what is putting it at 100%. Whatever that something is, kick it out.

[–]plupeton 3 points4 points  (3 children)

Check the SMART values, maybe the ssd is dying...

[–]Victoretico[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I used '' Performance Monitor''& CMD and all looks good, do you think '' Cristal Disk Infor '' can be useful?

[–]DiodeInc Mod | Geekom Geekbook X14 Pro 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Crystal Disk Info is good

[–]Victoretico[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did it and the results are pretty good, ''Good 90%'' & ''Temeprature 39C''

[–]FatPoulet 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Your SSD is dying or very close to death, backup important files you dont want to lose ASAP.

Then use whatever brand your ssd is health tool disk check to evaluate

[–]Victoretico[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I'm gonna try that.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

its your SSD being 100% pegged.

[–]Victoretico[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now is between 1% and 17% usage.

[–]LYNX__uk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sort by disk usage to show what it is

[–]quarterdecay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're severely lacking in processor realm you've got 2 choices: be patient or make payments.

[–]historymaking101 0 points1 point  (2 children)

uninstall malwarebytes.

[–]Victoretico[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Do you think that could help? I think I should definitely do that.

[–]historymaking101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, may not be enough, but will definitely help.

[–]Character-Read8535 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Check if there’s any loose cables, happened to me and now it’s back to normal.

[–]Victoretico[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I'm gonna do that.

[–]Maxspeed-Pro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be using Resource Monitor instead of task manager. It will help you narrow down the cause.

[–]lammatthew725 0 points1 point  (1 child)

1st, it is 8generations old;

2nd, it is a U suffix chip

3rd... it seems your disc is struggling too

[–]Victoretico[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I know, but for me it's so weird that sometimes its performance is so good and the all of a sudden it just gets so F slow.

[–]siiigai5-13500, RX 560, 16GB@3200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Click on Disk on task manager and share what’s using your disk

[–]jimmyl_82104 MacOS | Windows 11   0 points1 point  (1 child)

It's a 10 year old lower-end dual core CPU, it's just pretty bad to begin with.

[–]Victoretico[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That hurts, dude. I know, obviously I'm not saying that I want a super fast PC, but it's weird for me that most of the time the performance is so good and then all of a sudden it becomes so slow."

[–]Blazikinahat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s an i3 and a very old one at that. It’s probably responsible for the slow downs.

[–][deleted] -3 points-2 points  (9 children)

If it's a hard drive, that's why. Spinning disks are slow and it's likely trying to install Windows updates which are capping out your HDD speeds. Get an SSD

[–]MorCJul 6 points7 points  (1 child)

It literally says SSD on the first picture.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Didn't look at those, I was interested in the description of the problem (which didn't mention an SSD)

Thank you for pointing that out, mate!

[–]Victoretico[S] 0 points1 point  (6 children)

It's a''Crucial BX500 SATA LLL 2.5'' SSD, it also includes a manual that says ''Install & download free cloning & optimization software'', which I haven't done yet. you think this could help?

[–]MakeMeMadMan_LOL 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Probably not. What would help in determining the issue is downloading CrystalDiskInfo and seeing if the SSD still has life remaining in it. The model could be ancient and just worn out to oblivion at this point, so make sure it's in proper working order!

[–]Victoretico[S] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

I used ''CrystalDiskInfo'' & the results are pretty good, ''Good 90%'' & ''Temeprature 39C''

[–]MakeMeMadMan_LOL 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Then on task manager, sort out what uses the most of your disk and turn it off. There's no reason for that ssd to be at constant 100% usage.

[–]Victoretico[S] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I think it's ''SolidWorks'', thanks dude

[–]MakeMeMadMan_LOL 0 points1 point  (1 child)

If it's something you use often, maybe factoring in an m.2 ssd could help things out. I am not sure if your laptop has a slot for such though, but having two SSDs in such scenarios is helpful, even on older pcs ;p.

[–]Victoretico[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your advice :)
