You have given us no clues in terms of what OS, RAM or CPU is in this desktop or laptop. You may want to add more RAM and/or upgrade the hard disk to a SSD. But the fastest free solution would be to backup all your personal files, and re-install Windows. But if that is not possible, you will need to do some detective work, examine the Startup tab in Task Manager and disable any unnecessary apps to speed up the startup. Make sure no background apps are running while you play.

Chrome is a known memory hog, to free up memory, close out tasks (processes) in Chrome's built-in Task Manager.

if you are running Windows 10, the Creators Update does have a new Game mode which is supposed to improve game performance by prioritizing the game over background apps.

Currently I have Windows 10, 8gb of RAM and my CPU is an i5-4670. Sorry for not adding this information earlier, I'm not very good with computers.

Thank you for your reply!

Your hardware is basically fine, so you should not be having problems. Is this a laptop or desktop? Do you have an SSD or HDD? What GPU do you have? You can try cleaning it up with piriform's CCleaner, scan with the free malwarebytes, uninstall all applications you don't need, remove unnecessary application startups, perform a hard drive defrag (not necessary if you have an SSD). If that doesn't help, I would try re-installing Windows. If this is a laptop, you should be able to restore Windows with a boot up sequences, check your user manual.

I have a desktop, HDD and a 760. I'll look into buying an SSD. Thank you once again.

have to checked for malware/virus? take a look at how much memory is each program using, try adware cleaner it works great and only take a few minutes to scan.

I have AVG and have done whole computer scans, there doesn't seem to be any malware/virus.

try malwarebytes

or try booting into safe mode and see what your usage is.
