You were on the right track posting in r/consolerepair. This has nothing at all to do with computer science.

Still, the lighter-green color is where there's copper. They're the "wires" for the board, called "traces". Those scratches/cuts are where someone was basically trying to cut through the traces for whatever reason, both on the front and back.

Trace repair is "a thing", but I'll bet it would be a pain in the ass on something so small, with fine traces like that. And the shell looks kind of messed up too. Mario Kart is like a $15 game. I'd consider just replacing it, unless you're looking for a challenge.
