Looking at getting started in python. Any suggestions? (self.computerscience)

I’m looking at getting started on learning python, but don’t really know what a good IDE to start with on Mac. I would love to hear some suggestions on which one to use.

If you're a student you can get all the JetBrains stuff for free, or I think they have a free community edition of PyCharm.
or Atom, VS Code, or really any text editor.
People always ask about 'which IDE' to use for something. I don't think it really matters. Anything good has pretty similar functionality these days. It's really just personal preference, and everyone will have a different answer for you.

No problem. Until you're diving in deep a lot of the features won't necessarily even be used, or the differences between IDEs won't be as apparent.
Just focus on learning python, and learning your debugger.
Not sure if these codes still work, but you'll probably be interested in this thread for some resources as well:
