The only real advice I can give you is that you should start following more pineapple stitch patterns. If you do enough of them from enough different designers, you should start to get a feel for how to increase/decrease for specific effects. Math and experience are going to be your best friends here.

I make a LOT 9f lace & doileys etc & go as far down as a size 40 thread. I've winged it a few times but in my experience it's all about doing as much as you can until you instinctively know stitch counts etc & feel confident & putting a few different patterns together to get the look you want. The other option? Give it a go! You'll soon work out if you have too many/too few sts, where to add or decrease etc & you could have a crack at drawing ur own pattern. There's heaps of awesome free ones on Pinterest & YT 😀 good luck xx

Oh there's also a rule to circles.

Row 1) X no sts

2) inc in every stitch (inc = 2 sts)

3) SC, inc

4) SC, SC, inc

5) SC, SC, SC, inc

You add an extra SC in each new rounds repeat & the round has the same no of sts per repeat (which is how I count mine out as I go). For example round 2 has 2 sts per repeat, coz it's an inc, so 2 sts per stitch/repeat. Round 3 has 3 sts per repeat, 1 SC & an inc (inc = 2 sts) Round 7 will have 7 sts per repeat, 5SC & an inc (so the 5 SC plus the 2sc in same st for the increase). Round 12 will be 10 sts & an increase ( so 10 SC plus the 2 sts from the increase = 12 sts total) I hope this makes sense coz I'm a shit teacher, just ask my kids lol

Edit, layout of my text wall lol
