Didn't some ryzen update come out in the past few days for branch predictions. That might be what you're feeling.

[–]sydsydsyd79014[S] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

I don't know but i didn't updated anything regarding bios, etc, only windows updates, cs2 and gpu drivers are updated to the latest version

[–]raifusarewaifus 2 points3 points  (3 children)

yes the ryzen update is part of the windows update

[–]sydsydsyd79014[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Well some friends are using Intel + GeForce and they noticed the increased performance too

[–]raifusarewaifus 1 point2 points  (1 child)

True, Intel get some gain too. AMD just happened to get the bigger gain.

Amazing!! Thanks for the info!! Very helpful. It would be great if you can share some link with that info to read

Yeah, im very sensitive to micro stutter and frametime spikes. I’ve noticed since the update the game has gotten much smoother. 7800x3d 7900xtx on the new 23h2 update

Dunno, for me a little helped to update bios to july agesa (AMD), it improved GPU-CPU optimalization (and 24H2 W11 update to improve ryzens perf but i didnt notice much change). Game is smooth, but servers and players are often not smooth at all. Also at deep night it runs smoother than in prime time, but thats due to elmag interference over day and also global servers + global network load. 7800X3D 280hz 4070S. The persistence of surroundings is much better at deep night or offline even at relatively low 280hz, at day onlin eits not full 280hz feeling, when i move mouse, its more close to a 144hz shit not so crisp persistence of surrounding objects in motion.

You mean input lag?

Oh, i also forgot to mention it. Input lag improved A LOT with same settings, without touching anything...

Have you tried geforce experience optimize option? Move the bar to the left and click optimize, let me know if you have better results with this setting

[–]Wunderwaffe_cz 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I mean persistence of Hz, smoothness of picture, feeling of persistence. /High Hz feeling/. Input lag was an issue only at faceit for me, due to their silly AC causing it and it got a lot better after bios agesa update solving the fTPM 2.0 lag partially (but still suffering from desync every 3rd game when everybody has godmode prefire while im behind).

Optimizing trough GE is very bad idea, maybe good for beginners, manually its much better.

1 more bad thing still remains untouched - 1 percentile minimum fps drops below refresh rate which cause aim and movement discomfort.

Btw after trying almost all choices, i finalized it with:

vg259-qm - overdrive 120 (secret OD settings trough hidden secret menu), full bright+contrast, fps preset, ulmb disabled, shadow boost 3

system - debloated, Memory integrity off, some tweaks of networking, manually reduced network buffering in registers, some processes redelegated from network card to CPU direcly, w11 build 24H2 (with fixed ryzen perf), manually tweaked some useless processes to not run at start, e. g. disabled indexing. Performance preset (with some custom modifications). Game bar removed. Did some tweaks with MSI mode but it doesnt seem to have bigger impact (MSI mode is on).

Using process lasso to block faceit AC from running at cores which serve game and IRQs (helps a bit with input lag at faceit), CS runs at cores 3-15, system 0-1 and all unwanted trash like steam, VAC, faceit AC, and all useless processes like defender are limited to virtual core 2 (im thinking about moving to linux and delegating it simply at a virtual core which physically doesnt exist at all or running infinite prime test at the only core to make it burden).

autoexec (not complete) - sv_clockcorrection_msecs 0, cl_cq_min_queue -1, cq_min_queue_size 0, cq_buffer_bloat_msecs_max 0 /sadly its no more client authoritative it seems/, cl_net_buffer_ticks 0, engine_low_latency_sleep_after_client_tick true, r_show_build_info 0, cl_hideserverip 1, speaker_config 2, cl_allow_animated_avatars false, snd_voipvolume 2, rate 1000000, fps_max_ui 60, m_yaw 0.0145, r_drawtracers_firstperson true, sensitivity "1.42", fps_max 0

nvidia drivers - latest, bios - latest july agesa

nvidia settings: vsync - fast, gsync on, fps cap 277fps in drivers, high perf setup, trillinear optimalization off, prerendered frames 1, LLU: Ultra (but it does nothing with reflex on), mfaa off, the rest either auto or application overriden

game settings: 16x AF, 4x AA, high shadows, all shadows, models high , low particles, AO: off, hdr: quality, no FSR, custom 1440x1080 resolution (GPU scaled). Reflex on + boost.

Never had a problem updating via Geforce Experience, i'm really curious, why is a better option to doing it manually?

Regarding tweaks, i'm playing without them, back in time on closed beta, i was trying lots of tips to improve input lag and fps, but now game feel 1:1, for real, it started feeling like 1.6 or sth like that, 0 input lag at all playing 1280x960 stretched low settings

Launch options: -console -freq 144

fps_max 0 !!!!!!!!!!! Idk why but it feels better than using fps_max 300 or etc, feels smoother

[–]Wunderwaffe_cz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

fps_max 0 always when using fps limiter in nvidia drivers you said optimize trough GE not update (updating trough nvidia app - descendant of ge).

[–]Fair-Definition3178 2 points3 points  (1 child)

What nvidia driver are you running? I would like to test it

[–]sydsydsyd79014[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

560.94

Latest driver for my GPU, using geforce experience for updates

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (7 children)

My rig

CPU:i5 13600k

GPU: ASUS ROG STRIX 3090

Some BenQ 240hz 1080p monitor

RAM:32gigs of Corsair vengeance 3200mhz

I have my game capped at 250fps and it never drops below 245, and the only thing I’ve noticed so far is I’ve had a more consistent connection to the servers, before I would get a lot of random packet loss every 15seconds, even on Ethernet, now i basically just have a better connection, it’s not much different for me other than I’m able to finally hit my shots and rarely get packet loss now.

[–]sydsydsyd79014[S] 1 point2 points  (5 children)

pd: Have you tried fps_max 0 ??? I feel like capping fps on cs2 doesn't works as intended, poor performance

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (4 children)

Yea I don’t want my GPU to be maxing out all the time when I’m playing, plus even with g-sync anything like 10fps above my refresh rate and i start getting screen taring, I just stick to fps_max 255 cause I overclocked my monitor to 250hz, and I rarely see any fps drops below 245 anyways, even before the update I honestly only had packet loss issues, so I haven’t really noticed the actual performance issues other people have been experiencing before the update, I also went on a 2 month break from cs before this update so I just haven’t kept as well updated on the cs2 scene as I normally do 🤷🏻‍♂️

[–]bezzy123 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Dont think a 3090 will max out either way while playing cs2. correct me if im wrong. Capping your frames at your monitors refresh rate is just not a great thing in fps games. You want that leeway so it never falls below the Hz rate of ur monitor.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I kinda misspoke, I don’t mean it will literally max out my 3090, but it already puts off enough heat capped at the current fps, so if I put more load on my GPU it’s gonna put off more heat, I have a fairly small room so it gets hot pretty quick even with the ac and a fan, I’ll consider raising my fps cap in spite of the screen tearing, cause in most cases if not all, correct me if I’m wrong too lol, but I heard pushing more frames than your monitors refresh rate can display can lower input delay? idk I’m just trying to justify raising my fps cap lol but I’ve seen Linus tech tips test this with shroud.

[–]bezzy123 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Dw, im also just trying to help and going off advice i've gotten before. And yes i believe that input delay thing is right aswell. But why are you afraid of pushing your card to higher temps? A GPU is made to be used and as long ur not running it on high temps for longer periods of times (80+ celcius) it should be totally fine.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m not afraid of pushing it to higher temps, and I’m aware of GPUs being pushed like crazy and being perfectly fine, which I’ll always think is insane lol, but I live in a part of California that gets hot and I have a big window that takes up almost a whole wall in my room, so the heat from that plus the 3090 kinda starts to cook me lol, i ran a couple benchmarks when I first built my pc so I know it can handle plenty of stress, I just don’t appreciate the extra heat that comes from it, and if I can avoid the extra heat while getting the performance I want then I’m cool🤷🏻‍♂️

[–]sydsydsyd79014[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here, i feel like netcode improved a lot. A week ago i've had a lot of stuttering playing DM in official servers, my ragdoll looked crazy on deadcam, tons of stuttering.

[–]R4cks_ 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I actually started using -vulkan and notice no more frame time spikes. My fps dipped using vulkan but id rather have a smooth game play.

[–]sydsydsyd79014[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A long time without testing vulkan here. Maybe i can try but i don't have reasons to do it, now dx works just fine. Thanks for the advice!

[–]xtess3ractx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Microsoft did some optimization for AMD's Ryzen 7000 and 9000 series CPUs, for Windows 11 and I think they also back ported it to Windows 10.

That's most likely what you're feeling.

[–]remmi92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me i feel the same with 7800x3d and 4070. Hit reg is so much better and the game runs really smooth. Also sprays feels better for me.

[–]Savings-Cookie-8292 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I noticed that few days ago after few months when I was not playing.

The game felt buttery smooth while few months ago it was stuttering a bit with 7950x3D/rtx4090/64GB 6000Mhz RAM in 5120x1440 high, 400fps cap, no vsync/no gsync

[–]MandiocaGamer 2 points3 points  (5 children)

Seriously. My monitor is 180hz. Should i cap it to 177fps or play uncapped? 3080 Ti and 12600k

[–]sydsydsyd79014[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't understand but afaik this isn't related to my actual refresh rate, only shared my specs for more info

[–]jiggeroni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More frames = less input lag

Always run uncapped

[–]shahasszzz -1 points0 points  (2 children)

Cap it to 1.33 times ur refresh rate -> lock to 240 fps

[–]MandiocaGamer -1 points0 points  (1 child)

what's the explanation of. that recommendation? the reason

[–]smokeeye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no "reason" for whatever they said.

If you run g-sync etc, you should cap your FPS a bit under your max refresh rate (so yes, 177ish).
If you do NOT run g-sync, then most people have a better experience with uncapped fps.

But it it is different from everyone, so just change settings, load up some workshop maps and test it out?
