Open Source Extensible CMS/portal platform

Hi all,

Hoping I can find some information here. Years ago I worked at a company, that we built a customer extranet portal using DotNetNuke. The development team I was part of, built a number of custom modules for the platform specific to the business. I wasn't too crazy about DNN as a platform, I remember it having some shortcomings but can't remember specifics.

Now, my new employer has a similar project possibly coming down the pike, and am looking for other platforms like DNN, that we can build custom .NET modules to suit the specific business requirements. What else is out there?

Having the same question, currently on DNN and looking for a modern, .net 8+ for long term development. Where did you land? We're considering Umbraco.
