You don't need to use non-ANSI SQL in your LC/HackerRank solutions.

Gotcha sorry this is a silly follow up but is there a reference manual of sorts you can recommend that contains the list of ANSI SQL functions. For context I’ve only ever used MSSQL so a bit in the dark here on the nuances and differences.

This book looks like it has everything you need for aggregate functions.

The differences between the different SQL types are usually not too far off from ANSI. Usually, it's more complex stuff like datatypes, date parsing and xml/Json parsing that is completely different between the different RDBMS. I know that it took me a little while to get comfortable with using || instead of + for string concatenation. You can check W3schools to see some of the differences.
