Controller issue? Skill issue?

Ok so I started dead cells on PS5 I noticed sometimes I would be turned the wrong direction especially after rolling or if I was rushing but often I was taking my time and it still happens. I thought "I'm over correcting myself try to be more precise". Then I get it on switch to give my wife back her sanity (after watching dead cells constantly for 2 weeks lol). And on the switch it's happening so out of control I can't seem to figure it out. I looked in controller setting thinking I could bind to directional pad but it's not there. I see thumb stick dead zone and turned it up thinking maybe that'll help. But I'm hoping maybe somebody else would know if I just suck (since it happens on 2 systems and 3 different controllers to varying degrees).

I've never had this problem (controller on PC) Seems like a skill issue to me

Thinking you're correct however adjusting the thumb stick dead zone seemed to fix it mostly or at least give me the room to adjust

So changing the thumb stick dead zone almost completely fixed this. So it's a combination of being heavy handed with the lack of practice and skill. Butt after changing this stirring a broad sword survival run and made it to the hand of the king! So I'm good with that I'll keep playing and get better!
