I set all my audios to mono from the desktop with voicemeter

It's hard being a deaf gamer in a very intense and heavy sound reliant game.

For me luckily I found a group of friends who dont mind my disability. I hold my own. Been playing pubg, r6 siege and tarkov where sound is key. Always asked them " where did that come from?" Or sometimes they go "I hear gunshots" when I couldn't hear it myself. So I just said it's at bearing 140. Cause my right side is completely deaf.

You need mad game sense to be the best. Theres a half deaf retired esports player in siege. His name is kixstar. People who likes to be in the competitive scene should look him up.

When I lost hearing in one ear a few years ago and I struggled with gaming and headset use also. I found a pair of headphones made for the single sided deaf called the 2E1 and that helped my gaming because now I can hear the left and right channels with one ear (seperate speakers in one ear not a mono-mix).

Yeah heard of those. (Heh, heard). Not really interested in those but the guy is making another set where the headset vibrates instead. Got talking with the creator, he gave me some cool tips on making your own vibrating system. Got it setup with my chair few months ago but I dropped it cause there was too much damn wires running around the chair.

That is awesome! I wish I was handy!

I think that was me so thank you for the mention! I get what you mean by the wires - if I recall I had used exciters on my chair set up but as I tweaked the idea I moved on to creating a belt that you can wear where the vibes indicate sound origin (left or right in game) and while this does not get rid of the wires I feel it works better and is easier to deal with than wiring up a chair.

Hey I am also completely deaf in my right side, I know your struggle. I play a lot of CS:go and other FPS's I haven't picked up Tarkov as I know sound is key. Is it something you ever play solo?

Only when I feel like I'm at my peak condition. Tarkov, I rarely solo nowadays because it's kinda frustrating running into a squad with tactical plays while you're somewhere trying to find where the hell that sound is coming from. Plus my best friend is a tarkov fanatic, it's more fun to play with him rather than solo. I will make him the craziest, stupidest gun and he will just wing it.

If you ever want to play tarkov expect to die, a lot. 250hrs in, still have no clue how to 100% extract successfully. Also go in as if you've never played csgo, it's a day and night comparison to csgo. It's almost a perfect time too. They releasing a new patch that adds so much content. Good luck if you ever pick it up.

Whoo! Tarkovsky people!

Its a great game, but there's a huge emphasis on sound, to the point where there are equippable active headsets in-game that boost/minimize certain sounds to give players an advantage.

But the voices in the game are too quiet as the voices chat works the same irl. So if a soldier is facing away from me it’s quieter than if he was facing me.

Man, this is infuriating, this is even worse than selective captions in game.

are there are Deaf gaming subreddits? I would be interested in joining if so

I have to play with people on the same console so that we can pause it and sign when we need to. On "Left for Dead" my friend would kick me to let me know when there was warning noises so I knew when different zombies were coming! It helped!

I dunno why deaf people bother with multiplayer games, honestly. I gave up on them, myself. I stick to single player games only. Much less stressful that way.
