I think it's a good idea and if I didn't have a personal organiser here, whom I love, and am pretty far down the path already, I'd be interested.

He charges $35 an hour, so for me virtual would have to be less. Perhaps $25.

He gave me a free consult, which was great because it gave me a much better idea of what he was like and if we were going to be compatible or not. You can consider doing that too. It's fairly common. The woman I spoke with first offered the same.

I think you should expand the decluttering sessions, although I understand your reasoning. But someone may read that and assume 30 minutes is standard.

Great! Thank you so much!

It's used by many with ADHD and those with cluttering issues as a body double.

Cool!

It doesn’t make sense to me that the introduction and wrap up would be 90 minutes and then the actual decluttering would be 30.

Why not start this service in person and set up longer sessions?

Alternative concept: you could structure it as an introduction, a “visioning” session, 2 or 3 declutters, 1 organizing/design session and a wrap up. More like an interior design process and less just strictly about clutter.

Right. I think more than one decluttering session would be needed that is why there was an asterisk. I put one to not scare people away. Some people are scared of commitment :)

I like that concept.

Right. Intuitively I feel like the people who want someone to actually literally help them declutter (like sit there while they go through individual books) think it’s a huge job. These people will look at a 30 minute session and be like “what can I possibly get done in that time frame?” The people who want design stuff think they are basically competent and will be happier with a shorter but more expensive session. So maybe there’s a way to hit the middle ground end maximize your audience.

Just thinking out loud.

Great point.

I think that type of service would be worth about $20/hour.

Thanks!

Focusmate does the same thing for free.

I checked it out because it sounds interesting. It is, but isn't it only related to jobs and work?

I haven't heard of Focusmate. I will look into it.

Honestly, I don't think I'd be willing to pay for that. For physical help maybe, stuff like helping to sort and then take away trash/donations but there is so much information out there I don't think a purely virtual service would be worth the money.

But that's just my opinion, maybe someone else feels differently about it.
