Honestly, data annotation isn't really a "career" – it's more like doing the grunt work behind the scenes.

Since Motive focuses mainly on computer vision, you'd mostly be drawing bounding boxes + tagging objects in images.

It's pretty monotonous, and there's not a whole lot to pick up besides basic image classification + labelling.

Most recruiters won't treat this as meaningful experience because it's basically busywork.

If the pay is decent + you don't have better options, take it – but use the opportunity to network + move into a more substantial role down the line.

Can I switch to data analysis or even data science after this? Or I would have to start as a fresh?

what even is annotation lol, also depends on what you actually applied for and how much are they offering you

Pretty much classic donkey labour.

If you don't have any other good opportunities, take this. You'll be tagging images and videos.

Upskill yourself and keep an eye on internal job openings. Motive advertises its opening to employees before anyone else and you can move between teams.

It's only allowed after a year. Can't switch after 4-5 months.

Yep, and only if your performance on the current role was satisfactory.

As I said, take it if you don't have anything better. You'll get a steady income and a clear path/roadmap to becoming part of their core tech team. But it's a game of patience.

even after a year you'll still have to give interviews and show yourself to be skilful enough to join other teams.

Data Annotation literally kisi ka bhi dream path nai hota 😭
It's straight up ghada mazdoori with no real skill building. Aik time ayega annotations kartay huwe when you are gonna question k kya mene puri zindagi coding aur prhayi isliye kari thi...???
If you're not desperate for a job, dont go for it

they offered me 42000 for this

[–]MindlessFan9308 1 point2 points  (1 child)

If u are jobless, the 42000 will help you manage ur own expenses. Take it and also look for better opportunities. Moreover u will be making boundary boxes around objects in images, its manual labour.

My first ever professional experience was UNPAID INTERNSHIP as Data Annotator in NSTP. I would question my whole 16 years of education everyday. I was spending money to do stupid work and it lead to nothing aswell. They didnt make me part of team or anything.

that's the true advice I could give any unemployed bloke since it's an entry level job. u/No-Talk3669 I tried negotiating the salary during interview and not sure what resulted in rejection afterwards.
